German Foreign Minister Calls for Truce in Libya
German Foreign Minister, on Friday, said the situation in Libya could not be solved through military force. He called for a ceasefire, amid a campaign of air attacks against NATO-led troops Muammar Qaddafi. Guido Westerwelle made the comments after meeting melu China, Yang Jiechi, in Beijing on an official trip that will be followed by a visit to Japan.
"Not only the political resolution and we have to get the ongoing political process. It should begin with a ceasefire that allows the peace process started," he said.
U.S., Britain, France, Canada, Denmark, and Belgium have attacked military targets in Libya since March 19 under UN Security Council resolution authorized to 'all necessary measures' to protect civilians.

The campaign aims to overthrow Qaddafi coalition that has governed the country for 41 years.
China and Germany abstained from voting the resolution, which sets no-fly zone over the North African country, and do not participate in military action against the Libyan strongman's regime.
